Mission: Prelude: Blowing away the Cobwebs
Location: Chief Engineer's Office
Timeline: Curent

((Main Engineering))

Alex sat in her newly refitted office as she read the numerous PADDs she'd been given by the refit team. The day had been long, busy, and boring. She literally couldn't wait for her shift to be over so she could change into her pj's and watch some of the old television shows the computer had in stock.

Her door chimed, and she jumped violently. The sound that suddenly replaced silence surprised her. "Come in." She said.

Hoy, the man she'd met with earlier about the refits entered. He looked at her squarely with strong dislike in his eyes. He remembered their last meeting where she would not allow him to push her around.

"You called for me, Lieutenant?" He asked.

"I did. Under authorization from Commander Montgomery, I am taking full command of the refit teams."

Mr. Hoy's nostrils flared. A look of awe crossed his face. "What?"

"Yeah." She said. Then she remembered the conversation they had a few days ago. "Has the problem we discussed before been fixed?"

"It is a long process. We've began to write up new plans for the EPS systems. When we've come up with something, intermix stability will be back to normal."

"How long should that take?" She asked.

"About two months. We have to draw up a whole new design...but you wanted it this way." He replied in a sarcastic tone.

"I want it safe, Mr. Hoy. I want it speedy as well...nothing less. Scrap the new designs. Put all EPS systems back to the way they are in the original design."

"But, we'll have done all of that work planing and installing for nothing!"

"That's an order, Mr. Hoy. If you cant' do this job, I'd like to put my engineering department to the test."

"No no...we'll do it." He said, finally."

"I hear far too many stories about our people arguing with you to get anything done around here. That may have been fine before. But there is a time when debating must stop and someone needs to make a decision. That's my job now. Dismissed."

Hoy had a look of disgust on his face from being told he could leave. "I don't need you to tell me when to-"

"Bite your tongue!" She shouted. "Watch what you say to my department and I, because you defiantly wont like what I say back."
