Mission:
Transitions
Location: USS Calypso, Main Sickbay
Jerry had been told that he was expected in Sickbay for his first medical exam on the Calypso. So he'd appeared out of nowhere, still looking unkempt, but not exactly slovenly. He seemed to be slightly 'out of it', but that was probably from an understandable lack of sleep that usually followed a new transfer. Settling in and all that - and finding the 10 Forward Lounge, the Davy Jones' Locker. It was a good place, from what he saw. He spoke with a smile. "Mornin'" - the only problem was this was that it was 1500 hours.
Doctor Hart stood up from the chair when he heard the doors opened. He glared at the man that he has never seen before. "Morning?"
Jerry yawned widely and scratched his jawline as he thought, looking at the commpanel on the wall before his eyes widened, and he blinked again. "Hn. Guess you're right. Either way, my terminal started an alarm to get me up - you know how much that sucks? So, got dressed, came down here as fast as I could. Poke and prod to your heart's content, doc." He extended his arms widely, indicating for the doctor to examine him as he walked over and sat down on a biobed, rubbing his eyes. "The neat tricks they teach you in Academy to get up real quick do work wonders once they're muscle memory though. Give 'em that much."
"You have an appointment...Mister...?" Doctor Hart frowned at him and sighed.
"Yep. O'Connor. Call me Jerry. Please. So, what's up, Doc?" He grinned at the old gag.
Jason put away the work that he was working on, grabbed the PADD as he approached him. "Jerry O'Connor," he said as he searched the database. "I'm Doctor Jason Hart, medical officer. Our Chief Medical Officer is Doctor Leanne Bowen and she is not here right now. Let's see," he said as he continued to search on the PADD. "Found it...Chief Science Officer and you are half Betazed, huh?"
The scientist nodded, gesturing to the teal on his uniform. "Yep, if this outfit's the right one, and it's what the computer gave me. Mom's Betazoid. Dad's human... at least, we think he's human. Might be a needle deep in that haystack, but then again, same as anybody else, right?"
"That's what your database say," the doctor said as he set the PADD down on a nearby tray and picked up the tricorder. He still wasn't in a better mood, but this scientist is in high spirit seems to rub on his mood. "Well, sit or lay down on this biobed and I will get a scan on you. Before I do this, is there any medical conditon or illness that I need to know about before we begin?"
Jerry shook his head, after thinking a moment and stretching out on the biobed. "I've had a minor case of um... well, Shore Leave, but other than that? I'm quite good, thanks for asking."
Jason started the scans. "Where was the Shore Leave?"
Jerry raised an eyebrow, trying to think. "Uhh... I want to say Bolarus. Yeah. Had to have been Bolarus, since I was writing a thesis essay about how in the Galaxy the ninth planet in a system would be the one lucky enough to support life - and what a life it supports. 'Course - the paper I was writing was for one of my semesters there, so that tells you where I was, mentally. But you know, that's an interesting system - third planet's a Class F, fourth and fifth are Ks. If it wasn't for high geothermal activity, huge amounts of water, and the 11th planet being a Class J... there'd be no Bolians, and that'd be a shame."
"Never been there...," the doctor said as he kept his eyes on the tricorder, moving it from the patient's head to the chest, and down to the legs. "I like some science, but I don't have any interest in geology."
He nodded and smiled lightly. "Oh, trust me, I sure wasn't there for the rocks - but I did have a rocking time, doc. Believe you me. But, yeah. I think Bolian doctors like to 'teach people a lesson'."
"No kidding...I don't think I like Bolian doctors very well," he said as stopped the scans after it beeped. "I think most of them talk too much..."
Jerry nodded lightly, chuckling. "Never had a problem with that, myself. If they're just doin' their jobs, why should I care if they're talking. So, I take it that beep means I'm sound of mind and body, from what you can tell?"
"Yeah," he stopped reading the tricorder. "Yes, in a manner of speaking, you are very healthy. With your good attitude will keep you away from a lot of stress and possibly live longer." He put the instrument away and folded his arms. "To tell you the truth, you have helped me boost my attitude, as I was a little down with nobody to talk to at this time of the day."
Jerry nodded and sat up, patting the doctor on the shoulder. "Glad I could help then, doc. If you want, we can go hang out in the rec room, I'm free at 1600. Haven't had a decent guy as a friend in a while, you know?"
"Sounds good to me...I'd like to take you up on that offer."
O'Connor grinned as he stood up. "Sounds like a deal, pal. See you in the rec room at 1600 then!"
"Sure...I'll meet you there," Jason said as he watched him get off the biobed and head to exit sickbay. Looks like I will have to activate the EMH so I can join him for fun.
