Leroy was smiling. He needed something to get this unit in shape, and had an idea on how to do so. -^-Lieutenant Mangalia to the Fourth. Report to Marine Holodeck Two. You have fifteen minutes to gear up and get down here.-^- Looking at his chrono, he had started counting almost five minutes ago. He wondered how late they would be.
Kara was there in ten minutes. She walked calmly into the holodeck and stood quietly at attention, saying nothing.
Leroy looked over as the young woman walked in and nodded to her. "Do you know where the rest of them are? They're almost late."
"My squad will be here," she said. Just then, the doors opened and several other Marines walked in. She turned back to the Lieutenant and smiled. "As I said, any minute." She nodded to her squad as they lined up in formation. "What's up, Lieutenant?" Kara asked Leroy.
"So this is the fourth," he said as he looked them over. "Squad. Atten-hut!" He watched as they snapped too, and he smiled evilly. "I've been given an order by the CO. I'm going to follow that order. I've been told your not exactly battle ready. Is this correct?"
"Begging your pardon, sir," Kara replied, "We're the FIRST, not the Forth. We were told to show up here along with the Fourth."
Leroy looked dumbstruck. "Your the First?" Turning, he punched the golden grid of the holodeck. Turning back around he looked them up and down. "In the corner then. I'm waiting on the Fourth. You'll be helping me with them."
"Aye, sir," Kara replied. She signaled to her squad and together they headed into the corner to talk quietly amongst themselves.
Checking his chrono, he noticed the Fourth was late. Tapping his combadge, he sighed but kept his anger under control. -^-Lieutenant Mangalia to the Fourth. You had best get a move on, because the First is pushing until you get here.-^- Looking over, he pointed down.
Kara and her squad immediately complied. Orders were orders. However, there would be a formal complaint on the Marine CO's desk as soon as Kara could write one up. She'd been in combat with Captain Raine and had the greatest respect for the man. So far, the new XO was not faring as well.
The Fourth platoon finally ran into the holodeck late, even if the clock wasn't moved forward. The men looked winded and more than a few were still struggling to fit on their gear, requiring the assistance of others to finally get in order. The Second Lieutenant, Evan Staal, followed the platoon in last. The look on his face was an odd mix between relief that they were all there and shame that it took so long to organize his troop.
Evan walked up to the new XO, whome he hadn't had a chance to meet yet, and saluted. "Fourth platoon, as ordered."
Leroy looked them over and shook his head. "First! On your feet." As they get back to their feet, he looked the two over. "Ok, this isn't exactly my preferred working condition. And you people are definatly not my preferred Marines. We're going to play a little game with the Fourth." Smiling, he looked over to the Squad leader of the First and crooked his finger. "Who here knows Front, Back, Go's?"
"We've been through boot camp, Lieutenant."
Leroy smiled. "Spirit, something I do like about you." Shaking his head, he waved the woman forward, allowing her to begin. "But you see, there are several things I don't like. Tardiness. Lack of Cleanliness. And by the look of you, Laziness." Signalling the woman to stop, he smiled. "I'm going to do this my way. You don't like it, go up the chain of command. But each and every one of you miserable wanna-be's are going to stand, at parade rest, in front of your assigned rooms. You have thirty seconds. That's thirty seconds to get there, not thirty seconds to get up. You're down to 25 already." Smiling wickedly, he began to count, skipping numbers as they rushed. "Three! One! Drop!" He watched the fourth drop and he walked forward, out into the hall. "Twenty Seconds! Go!"
Trent waited in full gear with the rest of the first platoon. He was more than a little irked for getting smoked because of the Fourth's late arrival. His finger twitched impatiently on his Marine carbine as he waited for the new XO to finish grilling the other platoon.
He walked up to Kara with a frown on his face. "Any idea why we are here?"
In an undertone she whispered, "The new XO wants to prove himself."
Trend nodded, knowingly. "Gotta make your splash I guess. I just hope he is flexible on weapon mod's." He looked down to his weapon and tilted it sideways to examine the stock. "That, and getting rid of those damn beef stew rations."
Watching the Fourth scramble, he looked back inside. "Since I'm sure we have a few minutes, I wanted to properly introduce myself to at least you Marines. First Lieutenant Leroy Mangalia. I'll be helping to run the unit obviously. Do you have any questions?"
