ON

The time had come to leave Starbase Typhon and head for Tiberius IV. Permission had been given from the Starbase to depart when ready.

"All hands, prepare for departure."

Samantha sat in the Captain's chair. "All departments, report."

Ted's voice came over the comm. =A= All drinks are here, but we still have no carpet, no glasses, and no furniture. If anyone wants replicated drinks, you're welcome to come down here. =A=

Sam sighed. "Thank you, Mr. Turner."

Kaj checked all his readouts one last time before turning around at his console and reporting.

"All navigational sensors operational, warp and impulse on standby, maneuvering thrusters at station keeping. Flight Control is fully operational skipper."

Sam nodded. 'Thank you, Lieutenant Mikkola."

Damon heard Samantha's voice come over the comm panel and he smiled to himself. "Marine's are stowed, Captain." Already the Marine Barracks was alive with activity as the First Platoon was preparing for deployment. Clicks and snaps could even be heard over his voice.

"Thank you, Captain Raine," Sam replied, smiling at the din from the barracks.

Alex sat in Engineering, having just ordered impulse engines online. "Engineering ready, Commander."

Sheridan was glad to slide back into his seat and watch the crew come together and get back to work.

Sam looked at John and smiled, glad he was there. Then she turned to Kaj. "Lieutenant Mikkola, take us out, 1/4 impulse."

"One quarter impulse ahead, aye skipper."

As he always did before taking any ship out of port, Kaj pulled back on all of his fingers with his thumb to pop his knuckles before pulling back on his thumbs with his index fingers. Giving his readouts one final look to make sure no pop-up warnings had appeared, he moved his hand to the impulse thrust control and slowly drew his hand up to the one quarter mark.

Another helmsmen might have punched up the impulse right away, but Kaj knew enough that a slow dignified start was better for everybody, especially if there were any last-minute clearance issues, which thankfully there weren't.

As soon as the ship cleared the starbase, Sam gave the command to make for Tiberius IV.

"Ronnie," Sam said to the science officer, "Scan for any signs of the two ships. Once we get to the planet, I want to do several orbits. Scan above the planet, on the planet and beneath the planet. If there's anything there, I want to find it."

Ronnie nodded and began to set up the scans.

At the helm Kaj brought up the warp navigational screens and charts, then entered the proper approach distance coordinates for Tiberius IV.
All that was left was going to warp, but there was still one more thing to confirm before he entered the unlock and executed the jump. As he turned his head slightly to speak with York he punched the warp standby button which lit up a panel down in engineering, indicating that he was ready to go to warp, and if there was any slight problem with the warp core they had better cut control quick.

"Coordinates entered and course laid in Commander. Are we allowed to break the warp 5 limit or shall I proceed at maximum cruise?"

"Warp 5 will be fine, Lieutenant."

Nodding and turning back to his console he entered his helmsman's warp control clearance, then stared a countdown with his hand just above the big angry red initiation panel.
"Aye skipper, embarking at warp five in viisi, nelja, kolme, kaski, yksi."

At yksi (one in finish), keg tapped the initiation, and the Orion instantly surged ahead, swiftly breaking into the long lines of high-warp travel. Taking it all in Kaj reported the good news to the Commander
"Climbing steady to warp 5 commander, spatial drift is minimal."

Sam nodded. Before they knew it, they would be at Tiberius IV. She only hoped they'd be able to find the ships... and the crew.
