Food for the Gods
Location: Sickbay

The first day on the job hasn't been easy for the doctor, yet. Dwight McCabe was setting up his desk in his new office of Sickbay when a nurse came in to announce that a patient has arrived for the required checkup. He replaced some of his stuff back into his bag like a picture frame, to put it up later. He took the PADD from the nurse to read the information while he followed the nurse out of the office.
"Lieutenant A-nar Torek," he said, not sure if his Irish accent has created the wrong pronounciation. He looked up from the PADD. "My first day here as the Chief Medical Officer. I'm Doctor Dwight McCabe. Is this for your check up?"
Aenar got to his feet, tugging the front of his uniform to tidy it up. 'Yes, Doctor - per orders, naturally,' he smiled warmly, 'I doubt you find many of us down here voluntarily for a medical when we feel fit.'
"At ease. Just so you know, I don't bite," he smiled. "Let's get you on this bed sitting upright as I'm just going to use the tricorder." Dwight waited until he was settled. "Any medical history I need to know about? Allergies? Hobbies, just kidding..."
The Bajoran chuckled, 'plenty of hobbies - I like to keep myself active. Had a few boxing injuries over the years, and I've fallen down my share of slopes when hiking.' He shrugged, 'no allergies as far as I'm aware. Nothing else major really.'
The doctor continues to smile as he opened the instrument and started scanning. "I like hiking and exploring trails myself. One time, I was doing an internship on a medical starship and I was on away mission to a planet that had a distress call... the group of us were transported in a forest and we followed a somewhat trail. I stepped on a plant that the scientist named it the loving green as a joke because the plant's branches with large leaves wrapped itself around my leg and moved itself slowly as if it was hugging my leg. It was harmless. Strangest thing."
Aenar let lose a short laugh, 'it can be quite uncomfortable when you encounter a new lifeform.' He pointed at himself, 'me, I'm an archaeologist. You can rest assured if I encounter a lifeform, I'll be the first to run.'
Dwight chuckled. "I had to be in the middle of a joke with that plant incident. I'm okay with an encounter of an alien species as long as there is no harm." The scanner beeped. He glanced at the instrument to read the report of vitals and organ functions. "Looks like you are in good health. So," he closed the scanner and placed it on a nearby metal table. "You are cleared on your health. Welcome aboard for you and me," he smiled. "I'm certain we will see each other when there is a mission for the away team."
'But that was so painless!' exclaimed Aenar as he laughed. 'But really, thanks for the efficient service - I'll be glad to be cleared for duty when the report goes through.'
The doctor chuckled. "Certainly! It is nice meeting with ya. You are free to go," he said.
'Thanks Doc - it was nice meeting you too.' As the Bajoran got to his feet he nodded his thanks and made for the door, 'I'm sure I'll see you around - if you ever need a hiking partner on the holodeck, hit me up.'
"Aw - I'll keep that in mind, Mister Torek," he gave his short smile, watching him leave sickbay.
