Mission: Food for the Gods
The Calypso picked up an automated call for help from a previously-unexplored system beyond the Eskay expanse. As we investigated the signal, we discovered that it is from a machine of undetermined origin. As the machine comes from an advanced warp-capable civilization.
The signal brought us to an m-class planet with a pre-warp civilization reminiscent of the Victorian era on earth. An away team has gone down to locate this machine as it may be part of a people who died out or left the planet and may be vital to the current inhabitants.
At the present time, two members of the team led by Commander Munich have been separated from the group and cannot be located by ship sensors. They are Lieutenants Lei Shan and Ronnie Lancaster. Lei and her husband recently joined the crew. Ronnie has been on board since I joined. She and Commander Damion Wolfe have a daughter. I'm concerned for the safety of both women.
At the same time, since the current civilization has not achieved flight yet, the Prime Directive must not be violated. At the same time, I can't leave my people behind.
Commander Munich continues to search for the missing women on the planet. They have discovered an odd building that seems to be the source of the signal. Engineering and Ops will effect repairs as soon as they can find a way into the building and to the machine. It is my hope that we can find our missing crew before anyone notices they don't belong.
I have a competent crew. I have every confidence that they can find our missing ladies, fix the machine, and return to the ship without violating the Prime Directive. But that also depends a great deal on skill and luck. So far, both are holding steady. I only hope they continue to do so.
