Damion sat up from bed, allowing a moment for his eyes to acclimate to the darkness. He turned slightly to see Ronnie soundly asleep with their daughter Elsa laying next to her. He couldn't help but smile before standing up and quietly walking out of the bedroom.
He sat down at his desk and removed a Black Intel PADD from one of the draws. Damion paused for a moment before tapping on it and speaking. "Computer: Begin private message recording. Encrypt using Cryptkeeper system and deliver if one of two conditions are met. Officer Damion Wolfe is reported as deceased or Elsa Constance Lancaster Wolfe is 16 years of age."
The Computer toned in response before replying. "Encryption established and conditions set. Please begin recording."
Damion cleared his throat and held the PADD so the internal sensor was aiming at his face. He tapped on the button to record and began:
"Hey Princess. It's Dad." He gave a smile before standing up and beginning to walk back toward their bedroom while the PADD was still facing him, constantly recording. "Right now you, and mommy, are fast asleep in our bed. He tapped the panel by the bedroom, opening the door and raising the lights to a dim setting to not interrupt Ronnie's sleeping. "See? Soundly and comfortably." Damion aimed the camera toward the bed. "As an added side note getting you to sleep is a lot harder than I thought, but once your down you sleep pretty soundly. We take shifts when you wake up in the middle of the night, and tonight, its my shift. So I decided to record this message for you since I don't sleep all that often."
He turned the camera back toward him and continued, walking away from the bedroom door, allowing the door to shut on its own prompting the lights to shut off automatically. "Your mom is the Assistant Chief Science Officer on board the Calypso, which is the name of the starship you were born on. This place is sometimes chaotic, but its filled with a bunch of people who you will come to trust and maybe consider family, but always remember. Family doesn't end in blood. The bonds you forge may always help you and often keep you from losing yourself along the way. Some people, specifically in my life, have kept me from doing some bad things and they've even saved my butt from time to time to time. However, that's a message for another time. This one is all about your mom."
Damion sat down at a table, the stars behind him, as he continued to speak into the PADD. "Your mom is amazing and strong. Although she may not show it from time to time, she is remarkably brave. She was by my side for one of the hardest missions in my life and I never asked her for it. Without her, I don't think I would have made it back the same or at all. So, in my own little way, I thank her for it and I think she knows it too." He paused for a moment and smiled, looking away for a bit before looking back to the camera. "So remember that just because you don't say something to her, don't be surprised if she knows it already. For a non-Betazoid, she is remarkably aware of whats happening even before I do. I made it my life to be well informed and in-tuned to whats going on around me and your mom has gotten before I have."
"Here are some tips when dealing with your mom." He said firmly, chuckling softly. "Always be honest with her, and me, while we are on the subject. Chances are we are much more understand than you may think and the punishment may be less severe. Don't be afraid to ask her for help, because if she can do it she will, and if its something she may not know, she will try. Your mom isn't afraid to jump into something new, even if its a challenge. She's smart, smarter than me maybe, so when it comes to homework she should be the one to go to. Chances are she won't struggle to it like I would." He added a slight laughed before adding. "Your mom will always have your back, and no matter what you do, she will always love you. Same as me. There were times where I thought she was going to hate me forever, but she's never stopped loving me. If you ever find someone like that in your life, try to hold onto them, because that kind of bond is rare and special. On that note, if you ever need advice when it comes to relationships than me or your mother will do. However, there is an age requirement so no relationships until your 30."
"One of the most important things to remember about your mother is, she is always right. Only when she is around, then that chain of command falls to me." Damion laughed slightly before clearing his throat a bit. " But Elsa, just because we're always right, doesn't mean you're always wrong. It's okay to try and to look outside the box. Sometimes you might see things that we don't and that's fine. There is nothing wrong with trying to do something that isn't typically normal. As long as it doesn't break any laws then go for it. Some of the greatest things in the world, in the universe for that matter, came from outside the box thinking. Don't let anyone say you're wrong. You stop when you decide and no one else. Your mom and I may have experience when it comes to most things, but we will stand by you if you want to try something new because you might just might figure something out that no one else has. Your mom is a scientist and that kind of thinking is always useful in that line of work. If you think you want to be like your mom than go for it. You can be whatever you want to be, Kiddo, and you have parents than will support you no matter what. I have no doubt that you will be the best at whatever you decide."
Damion smiled before looking off to the bedroom door. Even though the doors were closed he could feel the baby fussing and waking up. "Sounds like Baby Elsa needs some attention." He looked back toward the PADD and continued. "Kiddo, these messages are not to pressure you or make you feel like you wont even be good enough. You will always be good enough. You're our daughter and we will always love you. I just want you to know certain things that maybe you're too young to understand right away. I just want you to have all the facts." He paused for a moment before looking up toward the bedroom door again hearing the faint crying from the other side. Damion looked back to the PADD and smirked. "You'll hear more in the next message. Right now I need to go take care of baby you. Bye Kiddo."
He tapped the button to end the message and placed the PADD on the table in the living room. "Computer: Send message to Wolfe's Den storage."
"Message sent." The Computer responded.
