For a number of reasons, Sam had put off talking to Lieutenant Wolfe. But with the mission on Jenefra, she felt it was finally time to call him in. Even so, she was still hesitant because of his penchant for arguing with her during briefings. "Lieutenant Wolfe, could you meet me in my Ready Room?"

Damion stood at the tactical station on the bridge where the request came in. He paused for a moment, looking over to Sirel, before turning to face the Ready Room doors. He tapped his combadge and responded =A="This is Wolfe. On my way."=A= He replied before motioning to Sirel to take his spot and walking over to the Ready Room doors.

He walked in and stopped in front of her desk before placing his hands behind his back and speaking. "You asked for me, Ma'am?"

"I did. Please, take a seat," she said. "I'd like to talk to you about your recent performance."

Damion sat down and nodded his head.

"As you know, in the past you and I have had our...disagreements," she began. "But I was impressed with how you dealt with the situation with Lieutenant Batiste and Commander Tate. You showed both compassion and understanding."

"For the record I also plotted to abduct her by force behind your back, ruining any chance we had at a diplomatic solution, which is what you wanted." Damion replied firmly.

"I know," she said. "But you didn't."

Damion nodded his head. "Well, it did seem pointless once it was revealed that she was on their side."

"True." She looked at him for a moment. "I'm glad I didn't have to throw you into the brig."

"Day's not over." Damion replied with a smirk. As the laughing died down he looked at her and nodded. "Captain, no matter what differences you and I have, I will always back your plan and find a way to help make it succeed. I know my role on this ship. Our experiences may be difference, and lead to alternate routes, but we still want the same thing in the end."

"I know." She reached into her drawer and pulled out a small box. "And that is why I am giving you this." She passed the box to him. "It's well earned."

Damion reached over and put his hand on the box before sliding it over to his side. He kept his hand on it, keeping it closed, before looking over to Sam and asking. "Are you sure I deserve it?"

"I am. I should have given it to you before now, but things have been a little crazy around here lately."

Damion raised a brow before responding. "You mean there actually is a moment where things aren't crazy?" He looked around for a moment before looking back to her and concluding. "It must have slipped by me unnoticed."

Sam chuckled appreciatively. "Okay, they're few and far between, but I"m hoping some shore leave will give us the break we need."

She paused for a moment. "And you're being reinstated as Second Officer. You were removed when you were away and I needed Hans to hold the position after Alexandra died." He'd been Acting XO for over a year while she fought against the people sent by Starfleet and by Jethro Vance.

Damion didn't reply. He didn't bother with a witty line or quick joke to ease the moment. He just nodded his head in agreement and smiled.

"At least in that regard we're getting back to normal." It was a relief to have a First Officer she could work with and was approved by Starfleet.

"For as short of a time that is, anyway." Damion replied softly.

Sam flashed him a smile. "I can dream." Then she asked, "How's Ronnie doing? I haven't seen her in a while as we've both been busy."

"How's Ronnie?" Damion repeated before raised a brow and looking away for a moment. He thought of the best way to answer, than looking to York and shrugged. "Pregnant. She's very pregnant." He placed his hands out and repeated the phrase again. "She's very pregnant." Damion than added a laugh before nodding a bit.

"She's due any time now, isn't she?" Sam did some mental calculations. "She'll have a busy shore leave." She smiled again. "So will you. Do you have everything you'll need for the baby?"

"Yes." Damion said softly before adding. "Except, I want your personal assurance that my daughter will be nothing like me and everything like her mother."

"You know I can't do that. But I can assure you that I'll do everything in my power to make sure she's healthy, mentally and physically." Sam knew about some of the problems Damion experienced. He had a reason to be concerned, but Ronnie, from what she'd said to Sam, was far more optimistic. Still, it would take testing after the baby was born to determine if the child would inherit her father's condition.

"I understand, Captain, that I am not a bad person. However, in my service on board the Nightstar, I have done things that I now regret." Damion paused slightly before continuing. "I don't want her to feel obligated to carry in my footsteps and go into Intel or Security and do things the way I would do them. I would much rather her be like her mother in that regard."

"That will be up to her. But, when she's a little older, you can tell her some of what you did, and why you don't think she should go into Intel. By then, you'll know where her interests lie." Sam said. "Who knows, she may take a totally different path."

"I know, and no matter what it is, she will have the full support of her family." Damion replied softly.

"I have no doubt of that," Sam said, smiling. She liked the changes she'd seen in Wolfe since he and Ronnie came back from their special assignment. "Now, go spend some time with Ronnie. You'll have little enough of that when the baby is born."
