No Lounging Around

647 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: A New Home
Location: Engine Room
Timeline: 1500 hours

Ted had just come from his lounge. To say it was a mess was a drastic understatement; it was a total wreck. The bar was ripped apart, the carpet ripped up, and one of the bulkheads had been removed. And now the people working on his lounge were being reassigned elsewhere. He walked right up to Adeyemon. She had seemed to have a thing for him before. Maybe he could use that to his advantage...

"Hey, Alex," he said, giving her one of his best smiles.

Alex smiled at him, looking him quickly up and down, not really caring if he noticed or not. She gave a half seductive smile. "Hi Ted."

He leaned over her, trying to be charming like he did with his wife. He pushed her out of his mind for the time, as much as it pained him. "Listen, I need a favor." He took her hand and stroked the back of it. "You have nice hands. I need my lounge fixed. It's not exactly in the greatest shape...think you could help me?" He kissed her hand.

Alex raised an eyebrow. This was great and all, but she knew manipulation when she saw it. She took a deep breath, distancing herself from the physical contact. She looked around the room to make sure no one else was left in the room. She then stepped forward, pressing her shapely body against Ted. She might as well play the manipulation games. "Well...ordinarily I would, but your Lounge isn't the only thing that needs repair....and I've stressed lately trying to get all this work done...very very stressed...

Ted knew it was over. But he might still be able to salvage it... "Oh?" he said, his voice low and husky. "Maybe you should get some rest. It would be very easy in a repaired lounge..." He caressed her neck, trying to get the upper hand back.

She turned her head to the side, smiling at the touch. She then leaned in to him, running her hand down him spine. "It would be nice...but then again, it would be much nicer for me to know that I'll have power in my quarters when I get back....seeing as we have 57 section of EPS routes blown. Now....do you see anything happening that will change priorities...make this room an absolute necessity...especially to me?" She said.

Ted wasn't willing to go that far. Flirt shamelessly, yes. Sex, no. He stepped away with his hands on his hips and it became acutely apparent he wasn't remotely attracted to her. "Okay, neither of us is getting anywhere with the flirting. Are you going to fix my lounge, yes or no?"

Alex starting laughing hysterically. She punched him gently in the chest and took a step back. "So serious! I was only joking!." She continued laughing a bit more. She had to admit, that was fun in a weird way. She just wanted to know what he would say. "No, but seriously.. There are other priorities right now, unfortunately. It's my job to make sure the Orion flies. Drinking and partying in 10-Forward is secondary. I do think I could leave one or two crew with you to finish the job. It would take longer, but at least you'd be getting something done." She smiled brightly at him. "And next time you need something...just ask...the flirting is cute and all, but it's insulting to say the least."

Ted considered for a bit, then raised his eyebrows and nodded. "That's probably the best I'm going to get, so I'll take it. Tell them to bring some glass and wood, the bar itself was totaled and is being ripped up." He smiled and walked out, leaving a giggling Alexandra in his wake.
