ON
Kali spent most of the day carefully covering her trail. She wasn't an expert, but she did know a little about tracking, and knew that avoiding dirt was important. By the time it got dark, she'd found another grove of trees. This one was thick with foliage which provided plenty of cover. She climbed into a tall tree and wedged herself in a relatively comfortable knot of braches that would allow her to sleep. She would need to be up and out at first light.
The trail was faint, molding more into the trails followed by the wilds, she was moving smart, hard to follow the target over hard ground. He had to look for the subtle signs, not broken branches more along the lines of those not following the breeze, the ones that were bent ever so slightly away from the rest.
There she went; staying away from the soft and main path worn thin. WHile she is impressive for the cottled one, she is not someone that would be so easy to lose. Going along the path she zig-zag pattern to throw people off, he had to slow to maintain pace. Bending down he touched the ground and with the feqather light touch he could sense the most slight of impressions, leading with the steady pace of saomeone trying to stay alive. She moved smartly, it will be for not but she atleast made it a bit of a challenge.
He moved on after his prey.
[Morning]
Kali woke at first light, eager to be out of the tree and away again. She wasn't sure where she was going, unsure exactly where Jenefra was, or even where the Qunari were, but she couldn't stay in one place, not until she was sure she'd eluded her assailants.
She carefully climbed down out of the tree. There were several spots where the branches thinned and she hurried more than she should in case anyone saw her. Near the bottom, she caught her foot on a twisted branch and stumbled. She missed her footing and grabbed onto a nearby branch to keep from falling to ghe ground, then carefully dropped the remaining distance.
She heard something fly past her, missing her by centimeters. Her heart began to race as she turned and saw a dart in the branch by her hand.
The echo of the dart striking the tree seemed to bellow to the Hunter; her chance move had taken his shot; damnation the woman had too much luck.
Kali made sure her footing was sure and bolted into the open, running as hard as she cold to get away. She needed to put enough distance between herself and her attacker. In hindsight, she wished she'd set up a trap to catch him--she was sure it was a he, the same one who was looking for her the day before.
She heard the sound of running water and altered her direction. Water would mask her trail.
She rounded a bend and saw the river, larger and faster than she would like, but it was better than waiting to be shot. Taking a deep breath, She waded into the water and let it pull her downstream.
The crazy female had gone into a river, it was sweeping her down stream. He closed the distance as best hsi sure footed strides would carry him, the dart was not going to reach her as he scrambled down the bank but the rocks would slow him down more; toime for choices. Dropping to a knee his crossbow came up0 into a firing position, watching the bobbing he breathe to calm himself and the steady eye took in the timing of the bobbing before he saw the rising back, he let the shaft fly.
Closing distance the upward motion of Kali exposed her back to him but the current also twist her body a bit so rather than landing in her shoulder the quad barbed tip ripped across her back from the left shoulder raking to the right shoulder tearing the outer layers of skin as the barbs bit her in passing from the left shoulder blade to the right before it continued into the flow of the river after making a gash in her back.
Kali cried out as the arrow ripped through her top and tore into her skin. She took in a mouthful fo water and went under, struggling to regain the surface and breathe. She managed to get a breath and cough again before going under.
Logan had spent last night tracking Kali with a small group of Security Officers, but once they reached the point where they required more rest, the Large Caitian decided he was better off losing the group and going off on his own. He worked better alone, anyway, however the concern Remy had for his mental state. At the moment, however, Remy's mental state was much more concerning.
After several times of finding the scent, losing the scent and regaining it, he finally reached a point where things seem to be on track. It wasn't until he heard the scream that the situation became much more intense, and he felt the blood rushing through his veins and his heart pumping from the adrenaline. Logan let out a growl before rushing in the direction of the sound.
