Orvack stepped in his hut one last time. It was now empty. Void of all life. He took a moment to walk over to the window and look outside, seeing the same emptiness in the village. It was once full of life and familiar faces, now it was full of sadness. In only a few short moments, there would be no trace that he, or his people, were ever there. Just as he promised. Just as he swore to Kali. Slowly he reached into his pocket and pulled out the bracelet he gave her, the one that allowed them to communicate.
"Everyone is almost packed and ready to go, Brother. Our people are ready for you to lead us to our new home." Reina said firmly from the doorway. She had been there for a while, just watching her brother carefully. When Orvack turned to face her, she spotted the bracelet clenched in his hand. "Regrets?"
Orvack closed his hand around the bracelet, squeezing it in his fist. "She is stubborn. She doesn't listen. She is forcing us to leave this place, not me."
Reina let out a sigh and walked further into the hut, approaching her brother slowly. "You can lie to yourself as much as you like, Orvack, but you can't lie to me." She said softly before stopping. "I can tell you regret making your decision. You regretted it the moment the words came out of your mouth. The only reason you didn't take it back is because you are stubborn and can't help but not get your way."
He narrowed his eyes at her, a slight growl formed in his throat. "Are you challenging me, Rei?"
"No." Reina replied quickly before raising a brow and adding "Only to spare you the humiliation of your sister wiping the floor with you, but that's not the point I'm trying to make."
"Then get to it before I lost patience." Orvack replied.
Reina placed her hand on her brother's shoulders and spoke softly in his mind. "You may be the leader of this tribe, but you're still a cub when it comes to the opposite sex.". She added a bit of a smile before she continued. "You brought her here because, deep down, you felt something for her. Something, that you hoped, would bring together our people and end this war without further bloodshed. However, when she went against what you were saying, you saw that as a challenge of your leadership, which was not the case. It was a difference point of view. You went out of your way to show her our side that you forgot that she has her own side to worry about. You couldn't handle that. You, Orvack, couldn't not handle being wrong so you pushed her away and decided to hide us all away again in hopes that another opportunity showed itself to end this war. We've lost too many people. Too many brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers have fallen to this war. We need to stop it before we get so accustomed to it that we can't find a way to live without it." Reina paused slightly before whispering. "You need her more than she needs you. You challenge each other and, deep down, you share the same thing."
"A need to stop this war?" Orvack asked.
"No, you big lug." Reina replied before slamming her clenched fist into her brothers shoulder. "The same big heart. By yourselves, you two can change hundreds. Together, you two can change the world. Maybe even change the galaxy."
Orvack smirked slightly. "You're such a drama queen."
"Did I rush it with the whole change the galaxy, line? I felt like I rushed it."
"Maybe a little. Did you practice that speech in front of the mirror before you showed up?" Orvack asked softly.
Reina nodded a bit. "A little. I wanted to make sure it sounded right. That last part kind of got away from me, to be honest."
Orvack smirked again, wrapping his arms around Reina and embracing her tightly. "It was perfect, Rei. You are perfect." He whispered before kissing her on top of her head. "I don't know what I would do without you."
"I don't ever want to know the answer to that question." Reina replied softly as she gripped her brother tightly having remembered all the close calls they both shared. She let out a soft laugh to hide her concerned before pulling away from Orvack and hitting him on the shoulder again. "Now, go. Go find your Jenefran Princess. I'll get our people to where they need to go."
Orvack nodded as he place the bracelet back in his pocket. "She has a bit of a head start. It will take some time to get her scent."
"East." Reina replied quickly before clearing her throat. She looked back to her brother and shrugged her shoulders. "Just... call it an educated guess. A guess that has nothing to do with me watching her leave and then following her for a bit to make sure she didn't come back."
Orvack smirked as turned and headed out the door. "You have trust issues."
"I know. It's a work in progress." Reina replied with a smirk.
