Mission:
A New Home
Location: USS Orion Lounge
Timeline: 1300 hours
Rita tore up the carpet of the Orion's lounge. As she did, she stumbled backwards into Toras, the Orion's Andorian chef. She thought she would be angry, but she just waved it away. "Don't worry about it, it happens to everyone," he said chuckling. She really was a nice girl, she thought.
Toras was helping Riven throw trash away while Ted was getting supplies; the base personnel were helping, but Ted never let them sit around and do nothing. That was Ted. Do your work or go home.
Toras picked up a piece of carpet and tossed it in the rubbish heap. It was already up to just under her chest, and Toras was not a short woman. At six feet eight inches on bare feet with lots of curves, the Andorian was easily found anywhere she went. Without saying a word, Toras put more rubbish on the heap. Toras knew the lounge had had a fire fight in the middle of it, but she didn't realize the extent of the damage until it was over and done with. They had nearly cut a hole through the deck! It would take a lot of work to fix that but they had to rip up the entire carpet first.
It was clear that the officer in charge was not enjoying this job. She had the look of someone who wished she was somewhere, anywhere else. Toras shook her head. The woman had probably expected to be saving the day with her skill with a warp core on a daily basis. Instead she was finding just plain hard work.
She was so preoccupied she didn't hear Toras's question. Toras had to shout to get the woman's attention. "Ensign! Did you hear me?"
The Latina blinked and looked at the tall Andorian. "I'm sorry, I was just thinking. What did you say?" The woman had a very strange accent that Toras couldn't place. Maybe French.
Toras gave her a searching look and said, "Do you think we should reclamate the trash so far? It's getting awfully high."
The ensign looked at the trash again and was surprised to see how much it had grown in the last few minutes. "Si, I'll contact the cargobay." She tapped her commbadge. =A= Nunez to cargobay one. We have some more trash for you to take out. =A=
=A= Energizing. =A= came a bored voice. The pile of rubbish shimmered for a few second and then faded away. =A= Reclamation complete. Let me know when you need me again. I'm going to grab some raktijino. =A=
Toras saw the woman roll her eyes. Toras and Riven shared a look. This was the kind of help they were given? She was so...uptight. Toras was sure that if you shoved a lump of coal up her butt, in two weeks you would have a diamond.
She noticed that Nunez didn't say any of this to the transporter chief. =A= We will. Nunez out. =A= She turned to Krall who was replacing a dented bulkhead; Toras and Ted had had a good laugh over Ted's baseball bat. He had really 'slugged' a couple of those pirates. She turned to Riven and Sikander, the new bartender. "Give me a hand with this, will you?" Together the three of them pulled a large piece of the bar away from the rest; like everything else in here, the bar would need to be replaced.
After a few minutes they became very aware of an argument going on in the doorway of the lounge. They looked up and saw two of the base engineers arguing with Mitchell. He always was a jerk. If the ensign couldn't stop it Toras was going to call security.
Riven looked up, almost bored. "Mitchell again."
Toras nodded. "Just keep doing your work." She got back to work and thankfully by the time there was another rubbish heap Mitchell was leaving. Toras stood patiently behind Nunez and she turned around to see the Andorian standing behind her.
"Ready to take out more trash?" she asked.
Nunez sighed. So far she did not like her first assignment.
