Mission: Shadow Dance
Location: Guest Quarters

"Enter." Jethro responded to the sound of his door chime ringing as he set down a PADD upon the coffee table turning his body to the door.

"We have a problem." Alexandra stated as she entered the room walking towards Jethro stopping as she towered over him.

"And what exactly is that?" Jethro responded curiously. He knew for certain is was not Morat as he would have heard of any disturbances she caused. In the recent weeks she had gone eerily quiet as she had many times before. Nevertheless it was still unsettling.

"There is a situation on the Jenefran planet that requires our attention." Alexandra replied in turn.

Jethro sighed waving his hand at Alexandra dismissively. "That is the Calypso's responsibility not ours. It is best we stay out of their business. Besides we have problems of our own to resolve."

Alexandra placed her hands on her hips shaking her head in disappointment. "Morat has entered her quiet period. Her past M.O tells me she will not strike again for quite some time. For the time being, this situation takes priority as it involves our asset, Jennifer Tate."

"Jennifer?! What's happened to her?" Jethro exclaimed concernedly rising from his chair looking to Alexandra for a quick explanation.

"Commander Tate was assigned by Commodore York to act as a liaison between the Calypso and the Jenefran people. It appears the Commander gained great favor with the King and his Grand Vizier spending most of her time with one official or the other. Now, Commander Tate is accused of poisoning the King. She is being held by the Jenefran authorities." Alexandra replied in a tone showing no emotions. She simply stated what was.

"Murder?" Jethro murmured with a tone of surprise. He began rubbing his chin as he paced the room. "This doesn't make any sense." He said looking out the window to the stars.

"That, we can agree on. On the surface, Jennifer Tate has no motives to kill the Jenefran monarch. However this alone cannot exonerate her, so to dismiss motives we must begin by examining her life prior to this, especially the past 2 days." Alexandra replied.

"You're saying in 48 hours Jennifer developed motive, that's ludicrous." Jethro retorted.

"I'm not saying anything but once again I agree it is improbable but not impossible. You and I both know the path to exonerating Tate is in part to understand her." Alexandra countered.

"But we must also understand the other side." Jethro said turning to her.

"Indeed, the same considerations must be taken for the Jenefrans. I would begin focus on Grand Vizier Keelan whom had the most to gain. This also means we are going to need to assist the Jenefrans in recovering the Princess as her disappearance is highly coincidental. I believe it is she whom will be the pick that cracks the ice. Our efforts should be concentrated there as the evidence provided by the Jenefrans is likely doctored and only proves tampering, not enough to exonerate Tate."

Jethro nodded in agreement. "We're going to need to get down there and gather Intel. This case is going to require a personal touch. That does leave us with another problem."

"And that is?" Alexandra perked a brow.

"Well two, one is York and the other is lacking an analyst." Jethro replied.

"I wouldn't stress the details on persona construction. The Jenefrans lack the time and resources required to authenticate Starfleet Personnel Records. A brief record can serve, even with gaps assuming the Jenefrans choose to pursue beyond our word. Their focus right now is on the Princess, they have no time for distractions. I suggest we make contact with the new King."

A brief pause.

"And I will handle Samantha York." Alexandra commented.

Jethro smiled as he walked over to his desk activating the terminal. "It's been awhile since I did field work."

"Don't tell me you've forgotten?" Vance gasped slightly worried.

Jethro's smirk changed now to a smug grin. "Don't tell me how to play spy kid."
