Sam reread the message from Starfleet Command, half expecting it to change the second time through. Ensign Spartacus was to stay on the Calypso during their trip to Jenefra, no exceptions.
She sat back and stared at the screen, thinking. There had to be something behind this, and Starfleet was less than forthcoming with information on the best of days. She doubted they'd tell her what was going on. However, asking Teenah directly would likely elicit better results. She hoped.
Sam loaded the message onto a PADD and headed for counseling to find Ensign Spartacus.
Spartacus was in her small office; an Ensign with a spot of her own is a treat; of course being a counselor did help in a major way in procuring the office. Dressed in her usual Skirted Uniform she had the dark tights option today; she hoped she was getting excersise but she felt she should now off her legs today. The silver combe with a butterfly pattern and pearal inlay swept up the left side of her hair to highlight the four stand dangling ear rings of silver with small silver polished globes at the end. She wore her Endalian Leather boots, the sking of a Lizard that had very plyable skinn that always semed to contour to the person wearing it. This was a shadow Snake on the native planet and thus the sheen of the boots had that aspect of a predator in the night and were so comfortable. She had them made to regulation standards of course.
No clients for another hour so Spartacus busied herself watering her plants, each chosen for the way it added to the calming scent of teh room. She had six breeds from as many planets all to give that welcome and easy going atmosphere.
"There you are my lovlies." She said to each plant in turn.
Sam checked first with the front desk to be sure Teenah was free, then paused in the doorway, listening to the counselor talk to her plants. "You and LIzzie should get together. She talks to her plants, too."
"Hello Samantha." Spartacus turned as her face brightened. "We have something in common, we are both green I figure that is a basis for conversation; you know , common ground."
"You may both be green, but I don't think photosynthesis has the same effect on you," Sam replied with a grin.
"And I thought my bright personality counted." She winked and offered a chair. "I have some fresh brewed tea, would you care for a cup?" She smiled.
Sam grinned at the quip. "Only if it's herbal, otherwise I'll replicate something." She took a seat and waited for Teenah to join her.
"Oolan." Spartacus pour two cups. "Very Herbal and fresh from Earth ; well at least our last stop over, so it has that soft taste I prefer." SHe brought a tray a few moment later with a porceline pot and cups to match the sugar and cream containers . "I hope you enjoy it?" SHe placed the tray between them and pour Samantha a cup , passing it to her. "PLease sweeten to taste; I have not learned your... flavor yet so I appologize." She pour herself a cup, brushed her skirt before sitting and taking her cup with sauser. "SO what do I owe the pleasure of your company; your aura has a little more than enjoying a cup of tea, there are some darker swirls and the color of needing to know about you?" Spartacus took a sip of her tea.
Sam took the cup and added sugar, then took a sip. "Very nice, thank you," she said. Sam took another sip, then put the cup down. "I received a message from Starfleet Command about you. It's in regards to our upcoming assignment. The message is quite simple at to the point. It says that under no circumstances are you to go down to Jenefra or have any diplomatic duties. Could you please explain?"
"Oh that." Spartacus seemed to wave it off. "The Diplomatic Corps do hold a grudge." She smiled. "It had to do with a Ferengi Ambassador, I did mention that I despite those creatures right?" She acted almost innocent. "Well it came down to this one representative that basically went too far..." It was almost imperceptible the shaking of her sauser. "Well there were an exchange of workd and... I tried to tear his lobes off, took three security to get me off him. Though his screaming was literally like A stuck pig... I did not realize a male voice could be so high in pitch." She tried not to look nervous when she put the cup down. "I suppose I should have told you not to count on me for this mission at the start but I thought the Corps might have forgotten?"
Sam blinked. "You tried to tear off a Ferengi Ambassador's lobes and thought Starfleet would forget?"
"H-he deserved worst." Spartacus tried to put up barriers from being seen for her emotions by Samantha, it would hurt her if her friend thought less of her. "That man was a torturing scum that gives Ferengi the reputation they have. I would have succeeded had he not been smart enough to have warned Security not to let me near him. Sneaking up on me I just... snapped and pounced upon him." She looked up concentrating not to let the tears come. "He was not... a humane Master." She said slowly. "You know my sealed file; two and a half years on a Ferengi ship..." She straightened in a regal way to keep her pride and not bopw to the pain in her mind. "What it did not say was I had been purchased to be a 'Party favor at age 12, meant to parade around and distract the customers; even be a bonus if it meant profits of course." She looked Samantha in the eyes. "If I did not perform as he wished I was ... punished, physically. Nothing to leave too many marks but still enough to where I knew my place..." She ended the thought. "So when he shows up and calls me..." She shook her head. "I enacted revenge for years of torture without thinking." She shrugged. "SO I will just hide away and you will not know I am here until after the mission, that should keep the Corps off your back. They were no better I was assigned as Arm candy at the time so what is really the difference? She said almost coldly. "It was 'hinted' that if I found a diplomat attractive they would not frown upon me following my Orion Nature naturally. That is my impression of the Diplomatic Corps." She just gave it all at once hoping to get it off her chest in a manner of speaking.
