"Amarylis." Jethro said softly walking slowly towards her bed placing her hand into his gently into his. Her hand was cold, just as it had been that day. He placed his other hand in her palm pressing the two together to warm hers. He smiled as he looked at her face, so peaceful that even a slight smile had formed as she slumbered. She was in a place Morat could not attack her, where the drug could not influence her. He reached up brushing his hand in her hair allowing her bangs to run through his fingers as he gently caressed the side of her face.

Amarylis' smile widened as she moaned pushing her face into his hand. Her eyes slowly opened as she awoke. "Hi daddy." she said in a tone barely more audible then a whisper.
"Hello my sweet little flower. I'm sorry I woke you." Jethro replied. "You looked very peaceful I couldn't help myself."
Amarylis giggled a little taking her hand and placing it over the one her father had still placed on her hand. She pressed her cheek closer in affection. "It's okay, I'm happy you did I really missed you."
"I know honey. I'm so sorry it took me so long to get here, but I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere." Jethro smiled leaning forward and kissing her on the forehead.
Amarylis shook her head from side to side. "No, I can't keep you here that would be selfish. You have work to do." She was too beginning to reminisce of the past. For her, the initial details were fuzzy. She remembered the Starfleet Admiral, clad in an overcoat approaching her on the streets. She had been so high at the time she could barely make out what he was saying. She remembered her clothes were soaked but the coke had already numbed her body masking the symptoms of the oncoming hypothermia. Had Jethro not found her she would most certainly have died. The journey to the hospital was even more sketchy as she had been slipping in and out of consciousness. The next thing she remembered, she awoke in a hospital room with sunlight beaming down upon her and in a chair in the corner. The Starfleet officer had remained all night, passed out on the chair fast asleep. She wondered if he had any family, a wife, kids to go home to.
"Mister Admiral." she said with a smile.
Jethro let out a soft laugh. "You remember to don't you?"
"Of course I remember. I remember you sitting on the chair in the corner snoring up a storm. You were wearing that overcoat."
"I still have that coat." Jethro replied. "I keep it safe in my closet."
"It was an ugly coat." Amarylis quipped.
Jethro tilted his head groaning slightly. "Oh come on Amarylis, it kept you warm."
Amarylis nodded. "It was really good for that. What was I wearing? Some god awful skirt?"
"Hardly anything suitable for the weather. Your lips were like blueberries I thought it was lipstick at first." Jethro replied.
"I miss that coat." Amarylis said looking up at Jethro with a tear swelling from her eye.
Jethro took his thumb and gently soaked up the tear. "Then you will have to come back and visit us. Kim misses you dearly, but with each passing day she grows more and more proud of what you have become. She still wears that beautiful necklace you gave her everyday."
"Does she still have the ring Alexandra gave her?" Amarylis asked curiously.
Jethro nodded. "Of course dear. She wears it with the necklace around her neck so that her daughters are always together and close to her each and everyday." He smiled warmly at her once again as he stroked her hair.
Amarylis instantly began to cry as her eyes swelled with tears. They began to stream down her cheeks.
"Hey hey hey it's okay sweetheart." Jethro said leaning over the bed embracing his daughter with a hug. "There there. I know you miss her. We're going to go back you hear me? You're going to get better and we're going to visit mom."
"I know." Amarylis whimpered reciprocating the embrace. "But Alex should be going with us. She should be there but she isn't because I didn't do good enough."
Jethro pulled himself back slightly looking her in the eyes. "Alexandra made a choice Amarylis. She's a grown woman and she made a decision. You need to focus on you alright? You've come too far to stop now. I'm not loosing both my daughters."
Amarylis gave Jethro a half-smile. "Doctor Barak is pretty good for a shrink. He's no BS, a breath of fresh air when it comes to head docs."
Jethro nodded his head smiling in turn. "Good, you need to focus on getting better and sober. You can't let Alexandra's death pull you down any further. If anything it should inspire you."
Amarylis nodded in acknowledgement before furling her brows. "You know I thought I was okay. I mean I was upset that she was gone, but then next thing you know Security finds me tearing my room apart in some coke-induced rage."
Jethro was taken aback tilting his head as he leaned in slightly to Amarylis. "Honey, what do you mean? Sweetheart where did you get the drugs?"
Amarylis shrugged. "I don't know, my replicator I guess, but I thought that kind of stuff was supposed to be filtered out."
"It is.." jethro said softly as he turned his head slightly looking blankly at the wall. He refocused on Amarylis gripping her hand. "Sweetheart what were you doing before you got high?"
"Well, honestly like I told the doctor I don't remember. Last thing I remember is I was perched on the hill. Commander Storm placed me there to watch over the away team. I had fired on several mercs that were going to kill Doctor Barak and the team. After that, I don't even remember coming back to the Calypso. Just that security officer coming in my quarters." Amarylis replied.
"Sweetheart how did you kill them?" Jethro asked gripping her hand a little tighter. He knew it a cold question to ask but it was vital to what he now assumed was the true cause of her relapse.
"Daddy!" Amarylis exclaimed looking at him disgustedly. While she was protecting her team she took no pride in what she did. Pulling the trigger was a last resort.
"Amarylis please! I need to know, sweetheart I know you were protecting your friends. I just need to know, where did you hit them?" he pleaded.
Amarylis locked her stare on her father, her face now cold and expressionless. "Eight head shots." she stated in a soft whisper.
"God damn it." Jethro cursed. He shook his head in disbelief. How could he allow such a detail to be overlooked. Amarylis did not relapse. No, this was not a woman driven to madness and old habits out of grief. This was treachery, this was an attack, it was Storm....
"Sweetheart, I need to go now okay? I promise I'll come back soon and if you need me you just use your communicator okay?" Jethro said patting her hand as he fought back tears of anger. It had been a long time since he had become so enraged, but this, this had been one step too far.
Amarylis looked at Jethro curiously. She could tell he was upset and that his questions were attributed to it. He was not angry at her however, this was something else, someone else. "Okay daddy, I'll be right here." she said yawning. "I need to sleep now anyways I'm tired."
Jethro smiled leaning forward and kissing her on the forehead. "Sleep well my sweet flower." He placed her hand on her stomach as he slowly got up leaving the room.
"Vance to York, Barak and Tate. I need you in the Captain's ready room immediately this is urgent."
