Uh huh. He sounded like he didn't believe her. Well, it was his turn next. If she was lucky, he'd get bitten, too. But, knowing her luck, he wouldn't encounter a single fish and think she made the whole thing up. Except for the bite on her backside.

[NEW]

Sam thought about asking him to check to see if she was bleeding, but decided against it. She dipped her head back in the water to keep her hair from getting too tangled and walked out of the river. Just to be difficult she took her time drying off before she checked the bite mark. Good. It had broken the skin. Good because she had proof of the fish bite. But it still hurt. She tried to look at it, but she wasn't that coordinated. She wrapped the towel around herself. "You don't happen to have a small Band Aid on you, do you?" she asked. She doubted it, but it was always worth a shot.

"Lemme check." Damon stood up and pulled his arms out of the pack he was wearing. He quickly unzipped the front pocket and retrieved a small standard issue medical kit. After loosening its clasps he grabbed a roll of bio-tape. "Looks like I do. Uh, are you decent?"

"I'm wearing a towel," she replied dryly, "if you consider that decent. I'd like to at least cover the bite before I get dressed...†She felt awkward, but was glad Damon was with her and not someone else.

"Good enough." He responded as he grabbed a bottle of anti-bacterial spray in addition to the bio-tape. He turned and walked towards her. When he was within a few feet of her he gave her a shy smile. "Let's get that bite cleaned up. Where is it?"

Sam turned bright red, but she turned around and lifted the edge of the towel. It could have been worse, she told herself. "Just what I want to put in my personal log. Today a fish bit me in the butt... " she said sheepishly.

"Uh, well I guess it's better than 'today I woke up dead'." He tried to make light of the situation, though he wasn't sure if it worked or not.

He dropped to one knee and quickly spotted the bite mark. He was quick to get to work, not wanting to dwell too much time in this position. "This might sting a bit." He said as he prepared to use the anti-bacterial spray and clean the wound.

"I doubt it will hurt more than the bite itself did," she quipped. Having Damon kneeling behind her tending to a bite on her behind was... an interesting experience. She'd had bites tended before on various parts of her anatomy -- you never knew what you might find in the desert -- but she'd never cared for the person tending to her like she cared for Damon. It made things... interesting. When he sprayed on the anti-bacterial it stung, but except for a quick intake of breath, she said nothing.

Damon winced at the sting it must have made but was determined to get the wound properly cleaned before bandaging. It took only a moment more before he was able to apply the bandaging. Wounds were a part of a Marine's life, and yet he found tending to this one had a greater impact on him than most...and it was only a little bite. He shook his head at the absurdity of it. He stood and put his hand on her shoulder to indicate he was finished. Just as quickly as he touched her skin, his hand pulled back. ~Not okay?~ He asked to himself, unsure.

"All done." He said finally, "Unless you..." ~'want me to kiss the boo boo'...Yeah, joke is not okay~ His mouth clamped shut. He quickly came up with something else, "Have another bite somewhere."

When the adhesive strip was placed over it, Sam did a little dance -- more like a wiggle -- to see how the adhesive felt. She grinned. It felt much better with the bandage on.

She put her hands on his shoulder and kissed his cheek. "Thank you," she said, then leaned in and whispered. "I really don't mind if you touch me." In fact, she quite enjoyed it.

Damon smiled and whispered back "I'll keep that in mind."

He found himself getting lost in her eyes, despite the situation they were in on this planet. She was stunning, just as much so without her makeup. He suddenly became very aware of his need to have a dip in that cold water.

"I should probably get cleaned up." He said, looking over to the eddy.

The abrupt change startled her. "Okay. While you do that, I'll get dressed. Look out for biting fish!"

He chuckled a bit. "Is it cold?" he asked as he made his way one to his pack.

"A little, but not too bad," she replied as she headed for the rock that held her clothes. "There's a bottle of bio-degradable body wash on a rock. It's odorless. Help yourself."

"Great, thank you." He said, hoping that the water was colder than she let on.
