911 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Deadly Diplomacy
Location: XO's Quarters

=^=Security to York! Ma'am we need you in Commander Vance's quarters *umph*=^=

"YOU WITCH! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY! I WILL EXTINGUISH YOUR FILTH FROM THIS UNIVERSE!" Vance yelled at the commlink.

"Please Commander...stop." Willington said visibly shaken by the words. Tears streamed down her eyes.

"I'll stop when I slit your withered throat you old bag." Vance shot back smiling sinisterly as she resisted the security officers.

"Please Commander calm down." one officer said.

"Get your hands off me before I throw you out an airlock!" Vance said as she continued to struggle.

Sam was reading in her quarters, enjoying a rare moment of quiet. When she got the message, however, she ran to Vance's quarters, not bothering to announce her presence. "What's going on?" she ordered as soon as she came through the door.

"I don't know ma'am." one officer said grunting. "We got a complaint of yelling and came to check on her." The officer paused as he readjusted to hold her back. "We came in and she snapped."

Alexandra looked at York with fire in her eyes. "You did this. Of all the people I expected to stab me in the back YOU were not at the top of the list. Maybe I'll slit your throat after I'm done with her." Vance growled at York. She then kicked at one of the officers holding her back as she continued to struggle against the two men putting up a formidable fight.

Sam looked around the room for any clues as to what may have happened and noticed the active call on the console. "What did you do?" she asked Willington.

Cassandra was still visibly shaken. It took her a few moments to regain her composure as she wiped her eyes with a handkerchief. "We were simply talking Commodore. I began asking her questions about some past assignments and suddenly my life and that of my family was being threatened. She's not well." Cassandra wiped her eyes again as she sniffled a little. "Pardon me I'm just a little shaken up."

"What happened on the SHADOWRUNNER is none of your concern!" Vance barked at Cassandra.

"You were warned, Admiral," Sam said, quickly comprehending what happened. "I'm afraid you will have no further contact with the Commander. Nor will you have any say in whether or not she transfers off this ship. A full report will be sent to JAG and I have no doubt you will be facing time in the brig." Sam was furious at what the Admiral had done -- and tried to do. If Vance needed to get away and seek help, it would be with the aid of Admiral Hunter and no one else. At this point, Sam didn't trust anyone at Starfleet Command.

"Excuse me Commodore I have been nothing but cooperative and I will not be threatened by you or anyone else in such a manner. And if you think you can simply throw around the weight of a JAG department and threaten others you are sorely mistaken and it will be you spending time in the brig. Asking an officer a question is not a crime and you have no legs to stand on. While you may be her Commanding Officer you are NOT a trained psychiatric professional. Common courtesy is over Commodore. A full report will be sent to Starfleet medical and I expect you will receive a reply shortly. Willington out."

The screen went black.

"Who do you think you are?" Vance growled in a low condescending tone. "Who are you to decide what I do and how I do it? What makes you think I even want to be in your presence now? You think I'm crazy? You can't even protect yourself let alone anyone on this ship. A REAL leader would never have let it get this far. You disgust me York and I would sooner spit on you rather then stand at your side. Shanks was right, you are a spineless fool spitting empty threats."

Vance suddenly did not resist the guards. "Get me out of here."

"So be it," Sam said coldly. She would see that Vance got her wish. Sam was done with trying to fight her XO and defend her at the same time. Admiral Hunter would help get Vance -- somewhere. Anywhere away from Starfleet Command. And away from the Calypso.

The two guards swiftly took Vance from the room giving no leniency to her given what she had just done.

Unbeknownst to anyone. As the guards dragged Vance from the room, her eyes filled with tears.

That hurt....

Sam watched Vance and the guards leave, her expression sad. "Computer, play last communication between Admiral Willington and Commander Vance."

"Message is no longer available."

"Go to backup logs," Sam said.

"That communication is no longer available."

Vance must have caused the communication to be deleted. Foolish. If Hunter had that, he could have used it against the Admiral and anyone else working with her. "Computer, block all inbound communications with Alexandra Vance without authorization from me personally. Command Authorization Echo Tango 100137."

"Acknowledged."

Intel. Sam needed help from Intel. If Hunger was still around, she'd get him. If not, whoever the ranking Intel officer was on board. She would get to the bottom of this, in spite of Vance.
