As the Marine transport came to rest in the cargo deck of Jupiter Station, Gunnery Sergeant Hawkes made his way to the rear door. The transport was crammed with equipment for the Marine Detachment aboard the station, but Hawkes and his companion had no problem getting to the door before the Loadmaster had his seat belt off.
Hawkes hated stations, yes they had their uses but he preferred cruising the galaxy or the freedom of movement when on a planet, than being cooped up inside not going anywhere. The deck officer advised him that the Marines heading for the USS Orion had been put up in the Station's Barracks, and the Orion had been given Level 20 for their Pre-Deployment Administration, that was where Hawkes was headed now.
Hawkes got out of the lift and made his way to the Security Station. "Gunnery Sergeant Hawkes reporting to the USS Orion." Hawkes addressed the security personnel as he handed over his paperwork.
"Everything seems in order Sergeant, but I don't see any paperwork for your companion." The Security Officer replied
Hawkes leaned over the desk, his face now only inches away from the surprised security officer. "It is GUNNERY SERGEANT, and if you open your eyes, the posting is for GYSGT Hawkes and family, she is my family." Hawkes didn't raise his voice, he never needed to, but his point had been made.
"Y.Y.Y.You're cleared Gunnery Sergeant, room 43." The Security Officer stammered.
"750 bloody marines aboard this station and they can't tell one badge from another." Hawkes muttered as he proceeded to his office. His companion sniffed his hand as they walked down the hallway.
Hawkes companion was his 5 yr old Alaskan Timber Wolf, Bella.
