~Unbelievable. You completely screwed this up.~ He mentally chastised himself, as he turned and walked out of the workroom. He knew at that moment that the bottle of Andorian ale he was saving would have its seal broken once he returned to his quarters.

Sam followed him out. She felt horrible and from the emotions coming from Damon, so did he. She grabbed his arm, stopping him before he got too far. Not giving herself time to think, she reached up and kissed him.
Damon was lost in his thoughts when the kiss came. He was one part surprised and two parts confused by the sudden action. Once again he was completely unsure of his footing, an uneasy feeling at best.
When they finally separated he looked down to her with a questioning look on his face and opted for the truth "I can't read you at all."
"Why? Because I didn't want the night to end with us both feeling miserable?" she asked, unsure herself.
~Great, a pity kiss then~ He ignored his inner dialogue and continued. "No, I meant it more like an apology. I don't know how to read you; therefore I say and do stupid things that put you on the spot. I'm not even sure what to do right now.
Sam sighed. "I didn't think I was being that hard to read. I wasn't trying to be, anyway." Then her sense of humor got the better of her. "What do you want to do with me?" she asked with an impish grin.
"Heh." He laughed as his eyes fell to the floor, almost embarrassed by the response he had ready. He considered his words carefully before looking her back in the eyes. "To be honest, I just want to spend time with you. I'm no romantic, but I find myself drawn to you."
"Me, too," Sam confessed with a half-smile. "I want to spend time with you, too." She looked away for a moment, feeling shy. Then she looked back at him. "And I'm drawn to you, too."
He was more than a little relieved by her response. Still, he wasn't sure where to go from there. "So now what?" He asked, finally trusting in the honest questions he had.
Sam wasn't entirely sure, either. "We could continue to spend time together, get to know each other, and see what happens. I'm kinda new to this, too."
"I think I would like that." He said with a genuine smile. "Provided of course that we never play darts again." His face scrunched up in a look of contempt.
"Never again," she promised. "Next time, you pick what we do." Sam tentatively reached out and placed her hand on his arm. "All I ask is that you ask me what's going on instead of assuming. Okay?"
"Agreed." He simply stated. He knew that was much easier said than done. He was trained to make snap decisions on the spot and, if all else failed, trust his gut instinct.
Sam wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him another hug. She wanted this to work out. She hoped it would work out. She'd never been drawn to someone like she was to Damon. At the same time, she was so afraid she'd do something really stupid and mess it up.
Damon felt strangely relaxed by the hug Samantha was giving him. It only took a moment's consideration to note that it wasn't the feeling that was strange, but rather the first time he felt it at all around her.
He looked down to her with a smile that emulated his feeling. "This time It's my turn to say goodnight."
With a nod, Sam stepped back. "Good night, Damon," she said softly. She was glad that things were ending on a positive note this time. Damon was beginning to matter quite a lot to her.
Still, she wasn't ready to go to sleep just yet. She planned on walking around the arboretum for a while. She wanted to think... about a lot of things.
This was a better outcome then Damon could have hoped for. The whole "relationship" concept would be something new for him and he was happy that he would have an opportunity to develop one with Samantha. Strangely, his mind suddenly remembered the unopened bottle of Andorian Ale again. He decided he would still break the seal tonight, but for very different reasons than before.
