Mission: The Enemy Within: Lying in Wait
[CONTINUED]
[OLD]
Second Lieutenant Martin Lewis looked at his team. "How much further to the Central Plexus?" He asked his Squad Sergeant. "'Bout fifty meters such." The Sergeant said with a deep Louisiana drawl. Lewis and his team were the only ones to make it this deep into the Rhombus. "Let's keep on moving. Got those explosives ready Cranth?" Lewis asked a Bolian corporal who nodded back.

Advancing cautiously down the corridor, the Marines put down a couple of security drones with taps from their TR weapons. They could start to hear the march of many drones in the adjacent halls moving their way. "We need to hurry!" Lewis said and started running quickly and came to a large set of doors. "Breach it! MOVE!" The Marines setup on both sides of the door as the Bolian Corporal put foam around the outsides of the door. "Ready sir!" The Bolian said after affixing an arming device to the foam. "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" Lewis said pressing the detonator and standing back. In a flash the doors burst inwards, "GO GO GO!" Yelled Lewis to his marines as the went rushing into the very heart of the Rhombus.
Opening fire the Marines advanced into the Main arrea of the Rhombus. Seeing a large open area ahead Lewis spotted several former Calypso and Columbia personnel and nodded to his men and shouted. "Switch!" Lewis dropped his TR which dropped on its strap. Knowing the Borg would adapt to their phasers early on, this team was specially equipped for taking prisoners if the opportunity arose.
Lewis and his Squad drew a tranquilizer guns, took careful aim and fired. Hitting a Borg in the neck the Drone pulled out the dart and looked at it then dropped to the ground as enough drugs to take down a rhino was forced into it's systems.
Not taking cover several Drones turned and returned fire and a hail of darts met them some bouncing off of bits of technology others hitting exposed flesh. The special chemical cocktail dropped the drones in a matter of moments and under the hail of darts all the Borg were incapacitated.
Running up, the well trained Marines started putting isolinear tags on the Borg for transport with the Bolian running forward and placing charges on the column housing the Central Plexus itself. "Lewis to Calypso mission complete. A pickup would be greatly appreciated!" As he turned and started shooting his TR weapon back the way they came at advancing Drones.
In response, the transporter locked onto their signals and beamed them back to the Calypso.
Strike Team 2 was tracking Vance through the ship, triangulating coordinates to get to her before she realized the Cardassians were holographic. "She's twenty yards away, sir. If we turn left down the corridor we should be able to cut her off in two minutes."
[[Rhombus]]
Explosion detected, grid thirty three sunjunction seventeen, grid fifteen subjunction forty three. Error in oxygen filtration systems, initiating regeneration cycle.
Intruders detected, species two zero zero zero, grid twenty seven, subjunction three.
Primary defensive systems failure, unable to initiate repair cycle
Vance did not relay any commands. The regeneration cycle had initiated, resources were limited. Calculations indicated her vessel would be destroyed by the Federation Calypso within ten minutes.
The Cardassian threat had to be neutralized, they could not be allowed to survive.
She marched past the flying sparks and various personnel in combat towards the Cardassian interlopers. Turning a corner the Cardassians came into focus.
"Your species in inferior, you will be eliminated." She said raising her hand and fired upon them.
The beam went right through the intruders and they disappeared instantly. The Cardassians were an illusion, a clever ploy by the Federation Captain.
She lowered her hand, a tear fell from her still unaltered eye.
Sniper Corporal Robert Manning picked up his weapon to look though its exographic targeting sensor scope. He worked his way through the Rhombus until he was within range to pick up Vance and hopefully get a good shot off. Sure enough after only after a few seconds of scanning he had spotted Vance.
“Sir,” speaking to the leader of the strike team “Vance is in sight, she just fired on the Cardassian holograms. Permission to take the shot."
Staff Sargeant Riley, along with his squad, was holding the corridor where his sniper was positioned. His TR bucked time and time again as stray drones made their way into the carefully planned kill box.
"Riley to Calypso," He said through the open comm link "Vance is within site. Executing strike order." He didn't wait for the response. "Manning, take the shot." He said between bursts from his TR.
The holographic image of Samantha York appeared in front of Vance. "Commander Vance," she said, her smile ever so slightly smug. "Check and mate."
Vance did not move, the voices continued to relay information in her mind but they went ignored. "Congratulations." was all she said.
A shot rang out and Vance crumpled to the floor.
[Calypso Bridge]
The communications officer turned to Sam. "Strike teams are back on board. Remaining crew accounted for."
"They have Vance?" Sam asked.
The Ensign nodded. "Affirmative."
"Good. I think we're done here. Helm, move us away from the Rhombus, full impulse." She waited for the ship to reach a safe distance, then entered a code into her console and the six tri-cobalt devices exploded, effectively destroying the Borg ship.
"Set a course for Tiberius V. We have guests with a mission to complete."
