Mission:
The Enemy Within: Lying in Wait
Location: Deck 15, Auxiliary Command Console
Vance left her newest servant to the allocation of additional personnel resources. Her method of delivering the nanites increased the efficiency of assimilation by over sixty percent compared to the Xenomorphs, detection would also prove more difficult.
Vance arrived on Deck fifteen approaching the auxiliary command console. She tapped the console and began accessing the tactical network. The Galaxy-Class vessel was designed with twelve type-x phaser arrays, three burst-fire torpedo launchers, three hundred and sixty photon torpedoes and eighty quantum torpedoes. The vessel's inferior defensive capabilities were of no concern to her. She began to tap commands into the console. "Computer transfer command authorization of the tactical systems to Commander Vance authorization Alpha-Juliet-Omega-Six-Five."
"Authorization accepted." the computer replied.
With the vessel incapable of defending itself assimilation would come swift and with little resistance. However this would be true if the harsh conditions of the planet had not dwindled the collective's numbers. They had adapted but the first month's of their occupation had proven costly. The collective had relied on passing vessels to replenish their numbers. The vessels Calypso and Columbia would prove a prime resource for the replenishment of the collective. The additional resources would allow them to leave the planet below and begin their conquest of this sector.
Vance continued to work the console attempting to resequence the targeting scanners and scramble the Heisenberg Compensator. In her former life Vance was unfamiliar with the Engineering systems of Starfleet vessels but her new awareness gave her this new skill. Vance had once thought herself to be extremely competent but now realized how inferior her former self was.
The computer bleeped acknowledging her work and locking out the transporter systems. The transporter would still function but the settings were inadequate to provide even the slightest chance of a lock. The personnel on the planet would prove easy pray.
Vance finished her work and took the necessary precautions to mask what was done. She turned to leave but was greeted but an unwanted guest.
"Commander....what are you doing here?" the young ensign in yellow asked.
"Ensign, did the Starfleet Academy not caution you the dangers of performing maintenance in secluded areas without another accompanying you?" Vance asked.
The ensign looked confusedly at the Commander. "No ma'am..."
Vance approached the man. "Well they should have."
