Sam was reading over reports about the situation on Tiberius V and the recent riots. She tapped her combadge in response. "On my way." She marked her place and closed the PADD. This whole situation was getting more complicated by the hour.

Alexandra rose from the Captain's chair and returned to her own.

As soon as she took her seat on the bridge she tapped the comm panel. "All personnel, prepare to drop out of warp."

She turned to Ronnie. "I want complete scans of the planet as we come in."

"Helm, set standard orbit around the planet."

"Rule 54, ma'am." Daniels noted. "We're already starting the scans on the planet. Now, which button scans for duonetic interference?" He asked Ronnie. "I know it isn't that one. That one scans for caffeinated, alcoholic, or medicinal plant life."

Ronnie grabbed his hand before he could push the wrong button. "We do not search for caffeinated or alcoholic plants. You want to set up a scan's parameters before you begin. Like this."

She began to carefully show him yet again how to set up a planetary scan.

"Thanks, grabby Mcgrabberson. Touch me again, and I'll charge you with assault. I asked, to make sure, geez."

"Ensign, I'm sure I don't need to remind you that Ronnie is a Lieutenant Junior grade and therefore your superior. Watch it." Damon said as he walked by.

Ronnie was glad to have some support. She had a strong desire to bang her head against the desk. Or bang Daniels' head against the desk.

"With due respect, Colonel Raine, it was assault." Daniels said, but did not elaborate.

"No, it wasn't," Ronnie muttered. "But I can fix that."

"Threats are dealt with just as seriously as the assault itself." Vance called back to Ronnie having been monitoring the conversation despite facing the view screen the entire time.

"What about incompetence and endangering the lives of the crew? I'm protecting the ship from internal dangers," Ronnie countered.

Vance rose from her seat and quickly spun around. "I assure you Lieutenant that when Ensign Daniels proves his incompetence and endangers this crew I will promptly have him relieved and removed from the bridge. Until such an occurrence, you will monitor him and correct him verbally when such is warranted. Have I made myself clear?

"Perfectly. Lieutenant T'Lada is the only member of the science department allowed to smack Daniels," Ronnie said, her tone polite and courteous. She didn't like the new XO, but she wasn't about to do anything to get in trouble. She'd leave that to Daniels.

"I will speak with Lieutenant T'Lada later." she said shooting T'Lada a dirty look before taking her seat.

Ronnie finished the scans of the planet in record time. She knew that time was short and, fortunately, found the Columbia in short order. Especially with Daniels trying to help.

The ship stopped half on a large rock outcropping, and half in the powder-fine sand. Debris scattered a large area, but for the most part the ship remained intact.

"Captain, I located the Columbia."

Sam looked over the information and nodded. "Good. There's a chance they survived. Any life signs?"

"Negative. I can't get any readings at all. Might be due to the sand. We had this problem last time," Ronnie said.

Sam nodded in agreement. She tapped her combadge. "York to away teams. Meet in shuttle bay one."

She looked around the bridge at the officers who'd been picked for the three teams, resting finally on Damon. Be careful, querido, she sent. She had no doubt he would, but she still had to say the words.

~Always~ Damon thought back as he walked to the lift.

Alexandra simply got up and walked purposefully to the turbo lift stopping short of entering to hold the doors open, she turned to the science console. "Lieutenant T'Lada you're with me."

T'Lada turned to Ensign Daniels. "Allons-y." She said, nodding towards the turbo-lift.

Daniels chuckled. "We're going into the unknown. I believe the appropriate show-specific reference would be 'Geronimo'."

T'Lada lifted her hand.

Daniels winced. "On your six, ma'am."

Ronnie waited until the turbolift doors closed before turning over science two to another officer. She, too, was headed down to the planet but fortunately not on the same team as Commander Vance or T'Lada.

Damion made it to the bridge, finally. He wasn't looking like his usual self. His hair wasn't in its usual ponytail, it was more loose and out as he double checked to make sure his uniform was straight and neat.

Ronnie stopped when she saw Damion. "Hi. I think I'm on your team."

"You should be, I asked for you by name." Damion replied as he cleared his throat and walked back into the turbolift. "I need a well experienced Science Officer and I hear thats you. Unless, you would rather be on someone else's team."

Ronnie waited until the turbolift doors closed. "You know better than that. I'll always choose you first."

The turbolift doors opened and she signaled for Damion to precede her. "Let's see what we can find this time, shall we?"
