One of the few Medical officers to rise through the ranks to command, and this reflects on his command style, normally seeking to avoid conflict, and will be quick to offer assistance to those who are in need. He has a confidence about him that is essential in a captain, and has a charisma that helps him get the best from the oficers around him. James' most prominent weakness arises from his strengths, that his attitude is too timid, but it is something he is aware of and where possible stacks his senior staff in the offensive side to compensate.
