USS Calypso

First, forgive me for my April Fools prank. To be honest, I NEVER pull pranks on April 1st, but someone mentioned doing something in character and telling his crew he was going to celebrate the day... Well, that discussion led to changing the name of the ship. Thus the USS Collywobble, the finest garbage scow in Starfleet. :)
On 31 March, the USS Orion officially became the USS Calypso. The vote was 4-1 in favor. I abstained from voting.
Everything but the email will change to Calypso. We're even moving the website to uss-calypso.rpg-hosting.com. You can go there now and set your bookmarks. The two sites share the same database, so anything done on a post on one site shows up on the other.
The old Orion site will be replaced by a forward message when we get back to Typhon and we officially transfer to the Calypso.
How are we going to do that? Well, if you've been reading the posts, the ship somehow got infested by ghezuns. These are large rodents that are a cross between a capybara and a vole. They've chewed through wires, nibbled a few bio gel packs, and eaten Ted's supplies...
Now, we're seeing the 'fruits' of those labors. Systems are failing around the ship. Relays are blowing. It's a slow cascade.
When the away team returns to the ship, there, we will try and limp back to Typhon. We may make it; we may die and need to be towed. Bottom line, the ship will need to go back to drydock for some major repairs. At that point, Samantha will be made the Captain of the Calypso and we have time to move everything from one ship to another.
We will NOT be blowing up the Orion. It will b repaired and be used again at some future date.
I'm trying to get everything on the sim changed over to Calypso except for the mail. That will stay Orion until this mission is over. Then that, too, will change to Calypso.
This is a way for me to say the ship is truly mine. I will miss Tom. I wish he had been able to return as CO. However, as his real life obligations grew, his time for simming disappeared.
It has been seven months since the Orion first set sail. I look forward to being with the Calypso for a long time. I hope you, too, will enjoy the ride!
